Increased performance, reduction in consumptionand the greater value attached to comfort mean that modern engines demand not only classic forged parts such as the connecting rod and crankshaft, but also additional forged components.  These include balancer shafts for increasing the smooth running properties of four-cylinder engines, or eccentric shafts for the rapidly variable valve adjustment system that leads to fuel savings.
